I'd try and get more information on the background check they're trying to conduct. Is it one where they're looking for a criminal background? Or anything specific that would get you rejected from the gig? Honestly I know a few people who disclosed what was on their background before going through the check (that way the company wasn't surprised if they found anything) and that helped them get the job.
